  • n March many announcers talk about a player’s “hang time,” T.

    What percentage of the total time T is the player above half of the maximum height H? It may surprise some that the answer is 70%.

    Looking at a parabola of y vs. t in Fig. 1, one can see with very little math that the full width at half max (FWHM) divided by full width (FW) is 0.7 (70%).
