Uma bio-tanato-política que faz os sem-abrigo sobreviver

    One of the main objectives of the intervention on homelessness is the preservation of the biological life of those who live on the street. However, this biopolitical effort to “make live” rests on a multiplicity of power exercises by which the life of the homeless is limited, preventing the development of a politically qualified form of life. In this field, life and death are the object of constant intervention, giving rise to a bio-thanato-politics that makes the homeless survive as it tries to prevent that these subjects move away from the threshold of survival either through biological death or through the unrestricted increase of life. One of the clearest expressions of this bio-thanato-politics is found in the attempts to protect the biological life of the homeless who are externally evaluated as being at risk of committing suicide.

    Um dos objectivos centrais da intervenção sobre o fenómeno dos sem-abrigo é a preservação da vida biológica de quem vive na rua. Porém, este esforço biopolítico de “fazer viver” assenta numa multiplicidade de exercícios de poder pelos quais a vida dos sem-abrigo é limitada, impedindo o desenvolvimento de uma forma de vida politicamente qualificada. No fenómeno dos sem-abrigo, tanto quanto a vida, a morte é permanentemente intervencionada, dando origem a uma bio-tanato-política que faz os sem-abrigo sobreviver, procurando impedir que estes sujeitos se afastem do limiar da sobrevivência quer através da morte biológica quer através do incremento irrestrito da vida. Uma das manifestações mais claras desta bio-tanato-política encontra-se nas intervenções que visam proteger a vida biológica dos sem-abrigo que são exogenamente avaliados como estando em risco de se suicidarem.
