  • Resumen
    • Aron talks about the atomic clocks at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in Teddington UK which generates a signal that is used to mark time across the nation. The NPL's atomic clocks measure how often a caesium atom's electrons jump between two energy levels--a little more than nine billion jumps equal one second. Measurements from multiple clocks are then averaged together to create a highly accurate signal. The clocks must be kept at a stable temperature because small heat variations can throw them off. Standing among them, he's struggling to hear over the whir of the cooling systems
