El presente trabajo se realiza a partir del rescate y la transcripción paleográfica de cinco documentos manuscritos, procedentes del siglo xvii, en muy mal estado de conservación, y ubicados en el Fondo Protocolos Notariales, Escribanía Diego Calderón del Archivo Histórico Provincial de Santiago de Cuba. Su objetivo es caracterizar lingüística y formalmente varios documentos del siglo xvii en Santiago de Cuba, para contribuir al estudio de la historia de la variante cubana de la lengua;
por cuanto esta carece de un trabajo orgánico que como primer estadio se centre en la indagación por periodos epocales, regiones del país y tipologías textuales más utilizadas, para de ahí hacer generalizaciones a nivel nacional en función de conformar dicha historia. La caracterización lingüística se centra en los niveles gráfico-fonético, morfosintáctico y léxico-semántico.

This paper deals with the paleographic transcription and the rescue of five manuscript documents from the 17th century, located in the Provincial and Historical Archive of Santiago de Cuba (Collection Notarial Protocol, Diego Calderón Notary). Its aim is to do a linguistic and structural characterization of 17th-century manuscript documents from Santiago de Cuba, in order to contribute to the studies on the history of the Cuban variant of the language, taking into account that this history does not have an organic work focused firstly on the investigation by periods, regions and the most commonly used textual typologies, so as to make generalizations at a national level in terms of shaping this history. The linguistic characterization focuses on the graphic-phonetic, morphosyntactic and lexical-semantic levels.
