  • The author reflects on place-based preventive dental care and problems with existing treatment for dental caries. He comments that from 1990 through 2010 the incidence and prevalence for untreated dental caries was unchanged and mentions a report that found the most prevalent condition across the world is untreated dental caries in permanent teeth. He talks about controlling dental caries using minimally invasive dentistry, place-based care, and community health workers.
