  • The authors focuses on public health issues resulting from the refugee crisis in the Middle East. They state that the priority of Western countries is to treat refugees with solidarity and equity, and respect their dignity and human rights, and comments that refugees do not themselves represent a public health threat unless they are mistreated and denied preventive medical care. They suggest refugee populations can help slow down demographic decline in aging host countries.
