The authors reflect on bias and substandard medical services in health care services for many minority communities and the need to recognize and mediate biases that are undermining relations between medical personnel and minority patients. They comment on community service for medical students and mention it is rarely a formal part of residency tor medical school training. They comment on implicit bias and the impact of bias within patient care, and the need to connect with communities.
