The article reports on the 2010 visit of delegates from the American Public Health Association (APHA) to study the health care system of Cuba. The team looked at national, international, and community public health and health promotion initiatives in the country. They visited health facilities such as the National School of Public Health, the Center for the Prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections and HIV/AIDS, and a hospital specializing in ophthalmology. Other topics include the focus on preventive medicine, the training of physicians in Cuba, and cost effectiveness of the Cuban health care system.
