  • The author reflects on World Health Organization (WHO) reform as of 2016, and it mentions organizational and operational structures, as well as initiatives launched by several former WHO directors-general such as Hiroshi Nakajima and Halfdan Mahler. The WHO's responses to Ebola and other infectious disease outbreaks are examined, along with global public health research and public-private partnerships. Debates about the WHO's core mission and objectives are assessed.
