  • The editorial opines economic austerity policies threaten public health, create a health-economic crisis, and lead to neoliberal adjustments that require extensive government intervention in free markets. The discussion topics include the globalization of political power and the neoliberal transitions or structural adjustment programs in Latin America and the former Soviet Union. Topics include the deregulation and privatization of health care systems and health care restructuring in Europe.
