  • The article discusses the Oregon Public Health Policy Institute (PHPI) which was designed to enhance public health policy competencies among state and local health department staff. Topics include the training of public health professionals in policy development, implementation, and evaluation, PHPI's use of a team approach and hands-on exercises, and the incorporation of real health policy problems which helped increase participant engagement.
