  • Resumen
    • The author reflects on how patient preferences can be a barrier to necessary medical procedures and the role medical personnel can play in shaping preferences. He comments on the role patient preference plays in patient-centered care and suggests patient preferences aren't always attributable to respected cultural, ethnic, or religious traditions, and may not be due to risk aversion of a lack of trust. He talks about how educational and knowledge-building interventions can alter patient views.
