  • The authors reflect on the potential environmental and human health harms that are associated with horizontal drilling and high-volume hydraulic fracturing of shale (unconventional gas development) in the U.S., and it mentions a follow up on the article "The Rush to Drill for Natural Gas: A Public Health Cautionary Tale" by M.L. Finkel and A. Law which appears in a 2011 issue of the journal. The environmental and health aspects of exposure to carcinogens and other chemicals are assessed.
