  • The authors discuss private and public sponsorship of university research in the U.S. They mention historically weaker links that schools of public health have to industry and consider concerns that improved links with industry may have. They talk about how some funders are unacceptable, the effects on the orientation of research, possible threats to academic freedom and objectivity, the impact on academic standards, reputational risks, and effects on knowledge dissemination.
