The author reflects on the U.S. Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and discusses the effect that the law has had on the ability of U.S. consumers to gain access to needed medical and dental care. A discussion of the challenges that consumers face when attempting to access pediatric dental insurance, and of the author's opinions on the need to provide oral health care to all Americans, is presented. An article on Medicaid eligibility by Fox et al. within the issue is noted.
