  • The article offers global news briefs as of May 2016. A study in Brazil in September 2015-February 2016 showed that 82% of 88 pregnant women were tested positive for Zika virus (ZIKV) infection between 5-38 weeks of gestation. The government of Great Britain imposed a 20% tax on sugar-sweetened beverages. Artists, intellectuals, politicians and representatives of cultural institutions showed support to German chancellor Angela Merkel's asylum and refugee policy for Syrians.
