  • Resumen
    • This article examines an overlooked topic related to French eatre in the eighteenth century: costume and clothing in comedy – scholars usually focus on tragedy and the »habit à la romaine«. It aims to explore the way in which the plays from the »repertoire« (e.g. by Molière) were managed by actors during the period and how revivals contributed to the development of a theoretical reflection on staging (through the concept of ’adaptation‘) and the outward appearence of comical characters. Mainly based on primary sources, the article emphasizes such topics as practical aspects of production and performance.
