"Y cómo caminan las almas": panorama religioso en tiempos del Emperador, entre España y Europa

    Teniendo en cuenta que en la esfera de la trascendencia los temas a veces cabalgan entre periodos y reinados; que lo espiritual y lo religioso, si por lo primero entendemos la posición de la élite o de la minoría, laica o eclesiástica, y, por lo segundo, la del “pueblo” o mayoritaria, también con frecuencia aparecen en compleja mixtura difícil de segregar; y que si hay etapa de la historia de España en que Europa contó especialmente, esa es la del quinto Carlos del imperio alemán y primero de los Habsburgo españoles, esta aportación, eligiendo necesariamente entre la rica y frondosa producción cultural al efecto, analiza los dos elementos que mejor simbolizan los dos niveles indicados, esto es, corrientes espirituales –posiciones doctrinales y teológicas–, y sentimiento piadoso –imaginario religioso–, sin olvidar, en ambos casos, el desvío, la transgresión, la heterodoxia.

    Bearing in mind that in the sphere of the transcendency the topics sometimes ride between periods and reigns; that the spiritual thing and the religious thing, if for the first thing we understand the position of the elite or of the minority, lay or ecclesiastic, and, for the second thing, that of the “people” or majority, also often appear in complex mixture difficult to segregate; and that if there is stage of the history of Spain in which Europe counted specially, that is of the fifth Charles of the German empire and first of the Spanish Habsburg, this contribution, choosing necessarily between the rich and leafy cultural production to the effect, analyzes both elements that better symbolize both indicated levels, this is, spiritual currents –doctrinal and theological positions–, and pious feeling –imaginary religious–, without forgetting, in both cases, the detour, the transgression, the heterodoxy.
