  • This article discusses how the amount of sunlight reaching the earth's surface is measured. Measurements of sunlight reaching the earth's surface, called radiometer readings, are quite variable around the world and have been tallied only up to the 1990s. An alternative reading can be had from earthshine, the reflection of the earth on the unlit part of the moon.
