    • In May 1999 David Anderson and Dan Werthimer of the University of California at Berkeley founded SETl home. During down times, personal computers look for signals of extraterrestrial intelligence from data collected by the Arecibo radio telescope. Candidate signs are radio spikes, pulses, triplets{ a series of three spikes and "gaussians," signals that Vary in a particular way. The Planetary Society has honored the most prolific data crunchers--individuals, clubs, schools, companies and government agencies, including one identifying itself as the Ministry of Silly Walks.
