  • The article discusses scientists' preparation of their plans to observe and study a coming supernova that is near the Milky Way as of December 2013. Background is presented on the characteristics and effects of a supernova. It highlights the 1987A supernova which generated lots of excitement and data for scientists when it was discovered in 1987. The authors say the supernova provided opportunities for assessing theories about supernovas and neutrinos.
