  • Resumen
    • The article discusses mathematical research involving ocean currents and walls of water known as transport barriers as of July 2013, focusing on an analysis of the flow of the oil that escaped from the Deepwater Horizon oil well in 2010 off of the coast of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico. Flowing fluids and chaotic systems are addressed, along with scientists such as Claude-Louis Navier and George Stokes. Lagrangian coherent structures are mentioned, along with McGill University mathematician George Haller and the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Prince William Sound in Alaska in 1989.
