  No Direito de Família tem-se assegurado autonomia aos pais para a realização do livre planejamento familiar pautado na parentalidade responsável e na dignidade da pessoa humana. Com os avanços das técnicas de reprodução humana assistida surgiu a possibilidade da seleção de embriões, uma das técnicas utilizadas na reprodução humana assistida é denominada “bebê medicamento”, procedimento pelo qual os embriões são selecionados por meio de um duplo diagnóstico genético pré-implantacional, para serem livres de falhas genéticas e ao mesmo tempo compatíveis com irmãos mais velhos, que precisem de transplante de células-tronco hematopoiéticas. Sendo assim, o presente artigo tem como escopo analisar a controvérsia que envolve o “bebê medicamento” e os impactos físicos e psíquicos desse procedimento e seus limites éticos, especialmente, porque envolve temas controversos como a eugenia, a questão do transplante de órgãos e tecidos por menores e, por outro lado, representa uma chance de cura para os irmãos que tenham alguma doença grave. Para tanto, utilizou-se o método teórico de abordagem, optando-se pela revisão bibliográfica e a análise legislativa.

  In the Family Law autonomy has been guaranteed to parents for the realization of free family planning based on responsible parenthood and the dignity of the human person.

  With advances in assisted human reproduction techniques the possibility of embryo selection has emerged, one of the techniques used in assisted human reproduction is called "baby medicine", a procedure by which the embryos are selected through a double pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, to be free from genetic failures and at the same time compatible with older siblings who need haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Thus, this article aims to analyze the controversy surrounding the "baby drug" and the physical and psychic impacts of this procedure and its ethical limits, especially because it involves controversial topics such as eugenics, the issue of organ and tissue transplantation by minors and, on the other hand, represents a healing opportunity for siblings who have a serious illness. For that, the theoretical method of approach was used, opting for the bibliographical review and the legislative analysis.
