Dinámica histórico-social y políticas de salud en Venezuela, durante las décadas centrales del siglo XX (1909-1960)

    El presente trabajo busca ampliar el conocimiento histórico de la Salud Pública venezolana conociendo el desarrollo de las Políticas de Salud durante las décadas del siglo XX (1909-1960) en Venezuela. El desarrollo de la Salud Pública en este lapso, fue muy complejo de grandes desafíos y en el que un grupo de sanitaristas jugaron un importante papel para la identificación de los peligros de la salud, previniendo posibles consecuencias dañinas para la población, y realizando una labor tanto sanitarista como educativa con una gran creatividad y mística solidarias, apoyados en la investigación y en el trabajo de campo. Es importante resaltar las grandes conquistas sanitarias que se obtuvieron desde los propios inicios: una brusca iniciación con intensos desarrollos que caracterizaron la génesis y trayectoria del MSAS; con un desarrollo estructural a través de la formación y capacitación técnica del personal con unos criterios que sirvieron de apoyo a la política nacional en pro de la conservación, restitución y promoción de la salud colectiva.

    The present work seeks to expand the historic knowledge of the Venezuelan Public Health by knowing the development of the Politics of Health during the decades of the 20th century (1909-1960) in Venezuela. The development of the Public Health in this interim, was very complex and is the epoch of the large challenges of the Public Health and in which a group of sanitarians played an important role for the identification of the dangers to health, preventing possible harmful consequences for the population, and carrying out a work as much as sanitarian as educational with a great creativity and reassuring mystic, supported in the investigation and in the field work. It is important to highlight the large sanitary conquests that were obtained since the very beginning: an abrupt initiation with intense developments that characterized the genesis and trajectory of the MSAS. At that same moment it was seen a structural development through the technical formation and training of the personnel with some criteria that served of support to the national policy in benefit of the conservation, restitution and promotion of the collective health.
