   Effectiveness and offensive performance analysis of the Soccer’s World Cup: Russia 2018The success in the soccer’s field is directly related to the offensive efficiency during the game. Considering that the World Cup is a great opportunity to observe the current best teams and players, the objective of the present study is to describe the effectiveness of the offensive performance of the 21st Soccer World Cup: Russia 2018. The data of this observational descriptive research were composed of 169 goals, 108 assists, 1182 shots and 59211 passes made during the World Cup. The results showed that the mean per departure of all variables analyzed was higher in the knockout phase. 32,5% of the goals were from a dead ball situation, 13,6% were from penalties. 18,9% were headed goals and 59,8% were scored in the second half. 20,4% of the goals were scored by defensive players, 41,4% by midfielders and 38,2% by forwards, disregarding the 12 own goals. 19,4% of the assists were from dead ball situation and 55,6% were made by midfielders. 84,71% of the goals were made inside the penalty area and 31.48% of the assists were made from the midfield offensive zone. It was concluded that the effectiveness of the offensive performance of the 21st World Cup: Russia 2018 was identified by 169 goals (2,64 goals per game), 108 assists, 1182 (18,47 per match) shots, 501 (42,4%) shots were on target and of these 501 shots on target, 33,7% resulted in goals, totaling an average of 7,0 shots needed to score a goal.

  O sucesso em campo está diretamente relacionado à eficiência ofensiva durante o jogo. Considerando que a Copa do Mundo se caracteriza como grande oportunidade de observar as melhores seleções e jogadores da atualidade, o objetivo do presente estudo é descrever a efetividade do desempenho ofensivo da 21ª Copa do Mundo de Futebol: Rússia 2018. Os dados desta pesquisa descritiva observacional foram compostos pelos 169 gols, 108 assistências, 1182 finalizações e 59211 passes efetuados durante a Copa. Os resultados mostraram que a média por partida de todas as variáveis analisadas foi maior na fase eliminatória. 32,5% dos gols foram originados de bola parada, sendo que 13,6% foram de cobranças de pênalti. 18,9% de gols foram marcados de cabeça e 59,8% saíram no segundo tempo de jogo. 20,4% dos gols foram marcados por jogadores defensivos, 41,4% por meio-campistas e 38,2% por atacantes, desconsiderando-se os 12 gols contra. 19,4% das assistências foram de bola parada e 55,6% foram realizadas por meio-campistas. 84,71% dos gols foram realizados de dentro da grande área e 31,48% das assistências foram realizados da zona central do meio-campo. Concluiu-se que a efetividade do desempenho ofensivo da 21ª Copa do Mundo: Rússia 2018 foi identificada por 169 gols (2,64 gols por partida), 108 assistências, 1182 (18,47 por partida) finalizações, sendo que 501 (42,4%) foram em direção ao gol e que destas 501 finalizações à meta adversária, 33,7% resultaram em gols, totalizando uma média 7,0 finalizações necessárias para marcar um gol.
