    O texto se dedica a tratar de algumas das disputas presentes no processo de constituição e de instituição de memórias públicas para a cidade de Cascavel - PR. Tais versões sobre o passado local estão presentes em diversos lugares de memória, mas, especificamente, selecionamos duas obras - uma de literatura memorialística e, outra, historiográfica – que denotam esses embates, quais sejam, respectivamente: “Cascavel, a História”, de Alceu Sperança, e “Terra, sangue e ambição: a gênese de Cascavel”, de Vander Piaia. Para tanto, procuramos analisar as obras tendo como referência as temáticas do mito fundador, elaborado para se fixar as origens de Cascavel, e as concepções de patrimônio urbano por elas difundida. Convém destacar que em relação às origens da cidade as disputas, entre as versões de passado local analisadas, se tornam mais visíveis, pois enquanto uma das obras apresenta a formulação de uma narrativa constituinte do mito de fundação, a outra, visa empreender uma crítica a tal enredo.

    This text is dedicated to dealing with some of the disputes that took place in the process of constitution and institution of public memories of the city of Cascavel - PR. Such versions on the local past are present in several places of memory, but specifically, we selected two works - one of  memorialistic and the other historiographical literature - that denote these conflicts, namely, "Cascavel, the History", by Alceu Sperança, and Vander Piaia's "Earth, Blood and Ambition: The Genesis of Cascavel". In order to do so, we seek to analyze the works by reference to the themes of the founding myth, elaborated to establish the origins of Cascavel, and the conceptions of urban heritage they disseminate. It should be pointed out that, in relation to the origins of the city, the disputes between  local versions of the analyzed past become more visible, since while one of the works presents the formulation of a constitutive narrative of the foundation myth, the other aims to undertake such plot.
