  • The author argues that the traditional model of U.S. education, which is driven by test taking, is a less effective method of teaching critical thinking skills than informal learning centers such as museums. Topics include research by cognitive scientists John D. Bransford and Daniel L. Schwartz into critical thinking, the importance of teaching children how to ask questions, and examples of critical thinking such as the television program "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and the Maker Faire.
