  • Resumen
    • The article focuses on a hypothesis concerning the mechanism behind type 1a supernova. It states type 1a supernova occur when white dwarf stars steal material from companion stars until it achieves critical mass and explodes with sufficient force to pulverize companion stars. It mentions a study in the September 27, 2012 issue of "Nature" that suggests many type 1a supernova may be caused by pairs of white dwarfs which could explain why some type 1a supernova leave no remnants from victim stars.
