  • Resumen
    • The author argues that as of 2012, the German manufacturing industry is successful because of a working relationship between manufacturers and researchers. Topics include a robot developed by students Felix Michl and Philipp Stahl at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the i3 automobile from the manufacturer BMW, industrial employment, innovations in the German textile industry, and competition with China. A graph of Germany's scores on the Global Competitiveness Index evaluation is included. Hans-Jörg Bullinger, the president of the Fraunhofer Society research organization, is quoted. The U.S. National Network for Manufacturing Innovation initiative is mentioned.
