  • The article discusses the results of a study published in the May 9, 2012 issue of periodical "Biology Letters," about the concentration of plastic waste in the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre and the positive effects of plastics on certain marine organisms. Topics include an increase in the water strider insect's egg densities due to growth in floating plastics and how plastics may present an unfair advantage to particular organisms.
