  • The authors discuss the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) planetary science program and argue that the government should not reduce its funding as of June 2012. Topics include the NASA space probe MESSENGER's orbit around planet Mercury, how U.S. President Barack Obama has proposed reducing the planetary science program's budget by twenty percent, and how solar system exploration creates a strong return on investments.
