  • The article discusses the development of technology to reduce friction, or extra steps and hassles, in completing transactions. Examples are provided of measures to lower the friction coefficiencies of various activities, including using smartphone applications for bar code scanning or one-click online purchasing of products, online voter registration and instant online voting, and combating obesity by making it possible to instantly buy healthier foods online or through vending machines.
