  • The article discusses the incidence of space debris, the material from abandoned spacecraft, rocket bodies or other mission by-products that falls from orbit and lands on Earth. To guarantee the safety of humans from reentering orbital material, engineers design spacecraft with materials that may not survive reentry. The U.S. National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA) plans for the Hubble Space Telescope and the International Space Station to land in the ocean.
