  • In this article the authors discuss a bill signed by Tennessee governor Bill Haslam that makes the state's two-year community colleges and technical schools free to any high school graduate in 2015. Topics include the importance of community colleges in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education, what community colleges will have to do to ensure the newly enrolled graduate, and the personal and academic challenges facing two-year college students.
