Le tablier de Gruterus : jeu de faussaire ou jeu chrétien?: Réflexions autour d’une tabula lusoria tardo-antique (CIG, IV 8983)

  • The Late Antiquity is distinguishable by socio-cultural changes which do not escapes the Playful Sphere. Here we take on these changes through the example of a Roman Greek Inscription taken from CIG IV, 8983 whose authenticity has been discussed. It seems that its authenticity should be accepted, and that seems particularly significant of late developments underway between the fourth and seventh centuries AD. After a presentation of the various manuscript sources, we will formulate the more precise hypotheses can be suggested about this tabula lusoria. Finally, we will try to put this document in its historical and cultural context.
