  • Resumen
    • The article expands the oeuvre of Lazzaro Bastiani (documented 1456-1512) with a Virgin and Child in the Art Gallery in Northampton, formerly erroneously ascribed to Quirizio da Murano. The attribution aims to go beyond a mere revision of authorship, seeking above all to trace a new early chronology of Bastiani's career, stretching from the 1450s to 1480, with a focus on the later dating of works until now unjustly interpreted as solely retardataire, as for example the Virgin and Child with Angels in the Museo Poldi Pezzoli in Milan and the polyptych in Matera. In this new context of chronology and style, the panel in Northampton can be dated to 1476/1478, coming after a period marked by the impact of Marco Zoppo and Giovanni Bellini and showing the artist finally open to the art of Alvise Vivarini.
