  • This article examines addresses that comprise initial combinations of σὺ δέ, or oblique cases of the second-person personal pronoun, and one or more vocatives. Applying the pragmatic functions of topic and focus, this article discusses the discursive function of such addresses and surveys common contexts in which they are applied.
