The article discusses astronomical research which indicates that dark matter in the Milky Way galaxy and satellite galaxies including the Magellanic Clouds could explain anomalies such as warping which occurs at the outer rim of the Milky Way and the small number of visible satellite galaxies. Research by the astronomer Martin D. Weinberg indicates that the movement of the Magellanic Clouds through the halo of dark matter which surrounds the Milky Way could cause warping, while the astronomer Kanak Saha argues that the asymmetry of the outer gas disk is caused by asymmetry in the dark matter halo.
