  • The article discusses the trend of a higher population of city dwellers over urban dwellers that developed in the 20th century. It also discusses the benefits of living in the city, including greater rights and education for women, improvements in health and sanitation, and a smaller carbon footprint and more sustainable living. It is suggested that youth education, technology, and social interactions are also benefits of living in the city. It is reported that 227 million people have moved out of the city slums since 2000.
