  • The article discusses retrofitting as a way to improve cities' environmental friendliness world-wide. The article notes that the cost often prevents planned eco-cities from being built. Retrofitting current cities would be cheaper and could still conserve resources significantly. The article says that without making sustainable changes, the demand for resources will be three times greater than the supply by the year 2050. Ideas for saving energy, conserving clean water, and environmentally-friendly waste management are presented.
