  • The article discusses how skyscraper construction has increased rather than decreased since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 because tall buildings are an efficient and sustainable way of accommodating the needs of global urbanization. The article discusses 300+ meter buildings, called supertalls, many of which are being built outside the U.S., though often designed by contracted American design and engineering firms. Engineering developments are discussed including earthquake readiness, inter-building sky bridges, and green design.
