  • Resumen
    • In this article the author discusses the evolution of the eye. Topics include the challenges of studying the origin of the structures of the eye, such as a lack of direct evolutionary evidence and advances in tracing the origin of the eye from research comparing eye structures and embryological development of the eye in vertebrate species. Also discussed is scientific evidence that suggests the camera-style eye of human beings has ancient roots and functioned to detect light used to modulate circadian rhythms of early human ancestors prior to acquiring the elements necessary to operate as a visual organ. INSETS: Echoes of Evolution;Scars of Evolution.
