  • The article discusses a report published in the March 2011 issue of "Nature Materials" in which a materials scientist at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, developed a tool for treating atrial fibrillation, which is a cardiac arrhythmia, from a technique that uses a chemical etcher to create thin slices of silicon wafers of light emitting diodes (LEDs) that contain electrodes.
