The article reports that the use of increasingly sophisticated onboard computers may be endangering automobiles by exposing them to cyberattacks. The author notes that automobiles are becoming a sophisticated network of computers linked to one another as well as the Internet. An overview of a study by U.S. computer scientists, who were able to prove that a hacker could conceivably use a cell phone to unlock a car's doors and start its engine, is presented.
