• The article discusses the entry into the planet Mercury's orbit by the U.S. National Aeronautics & Space Administration's (NASA's) space vehicle MESSENGER to study the planet in depth. The space vehicle MESSENGER, which is an acronym for MErcury Surface, Space ENvironment, GEochemistry, and Ranging, is designed to answer six questions about Mercury, which is the least explored of the inner planets, including the composition of Mercury's surface, its geologic history, and whether its metallic core is molten.
