    • The article discusses the challenges of being a consumer technology critic, such as receiving hate mail, and why individuals who love gadgets get excessively upset about technology reviews. The author suggest that individuals who rage over technology are suffering from the Internet effect, which is a condition in which an individual's self-worth is related to the kind of gadget he has and the standards of civility are different from that of the real world.
