  • The article discusses a study published in "Science" by a team of researchers at the Lockheed Martin Solar and Astrophysics Laboratory in Palo Alto, California, regarding the discovery of short-lived fountains of plasma, called spicules, that may help explain why the surface of the Sun is hotter than its outer atmosphere.
