The article discusses a report in a 2010 issue of "Nature" regarding the sequencing of genomes by researchers from several individuals who died from pancreatic cancer. The researchers were able to trace the evolution of the cancer by using a mathematical model to plot the various type of tumor cell mutations over time. An overview of how gene sequencing and early detection screening techniques for pancreatic cancer are being used to save lives is presented.
