  • Resumen
    • The article discusses human contact with extraterrestrial beings, when astronomers think it will happen, and what astronomers think will happen when it does. Topics include an overview of how advances in computing power will allow astronomers, such as those working at the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California, to scan enough stars in the Milky Way galaxy for a reasonable chance at detecting a signal from an extraterrestrial civilization, why there would not be a government conspiracy to suppress evidence of alien intelligence, and why the author thinks that the fear of some scientists regarding the attraction of hostile aliens as a result of revealing human existence to the universe is groundless.
