    • The article discusses neuroscience research. The focus of the article is researchers' use of elaborate systems, such as computer chips and the stock market, to attempt to unravel the complexity of the brain. According to the author, understanding how the brain's intricate networks function may provide clues to underlying causes of mental illness and brain diseases such as schizophrenia and dementia, respectively. Topics include the physiology of a neuron, research investigating how billions of neurons produce the human mind, and neural mapping projects, which try to map the connections of neurons across the entire brain.
